Turned out it was something simpler he discovered and corrected it. He stayed until he was sure that the thermostat would recognize and turn on the air conditioner again. He also encouraged the home office to move my regularly scheduled maintenance date a month sooner. I shared my excellent experience with my fiancé and asked him if he could believe it.
